Self-ish
S:
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should not look only to your own interest, but also to the interests of others..He humbled himseld and became obedient to death..and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord..For everyone looks out for his own ambitions, not those of Christ..but you know that Timothy has proved himself because as a son with His father, he has served with me in the work of the gospel. Phil2
O:
Jesus yielded to the Lord's will, even if it meant to the point of death. Through the suffering, Jesus saw the light of life, was satisfied, was called great as he poured out his life to the point of being crushed. Nothing of his life was done of selfish ambition, but everything done in humility, considering everyone else better than himself. He humbed himself right to the cross, that through his life and his life after death, at the name of Jesus, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
A:
We live in such a fractued world, a world that worships the 'self'. This is the very attitude that Jesus warned us not to do, to seek to save one's own life. He has called us to live a total opposite life! Maybe that's why it seems so suffering because as a Christ follower, we go against the tide. Spirit vs flesh. In our world, we strive to excelt, most of the time for own glorification. Even if it were somewhere down the mission of wanting to help another, many a time i catch myself at the endpoint of the selfish pleasure. He calls us to do NOTHING out of selfish ambition. In a world that portrays greatness only once you've climed the top of the pyramid, Jesus took the totally opposite end of the spectrum, to serve from the very bottom. Could i come to a point in my everyday that i could walk in humility and not for the gaining of ANYTHING for my own cravings?
P:
A new day you give to God to learn to walk in Your will, with each breath i take, for the flesh to serve and not have mastery over the Spirit's prompting. I look to Jesus with humility. Not sure if i could go all the way but i do hope to day by day discern in my spirit, making choices out of the faith i have at that point. Along the way i'm inspired by You, my Creator. May i hope for what you hope for. May i love like You love. May my faith grow as i read Your Word, your purposes and promises that you have for this earth, for my life that others may grow to hear the voice of their Creator that they may call open you as Lord over their lives. Save us from ourselves i ask this in Your Name.
